What is Binge Eating Disorder? (BED)
-Binge eating disorder is characterized by recurrent episodes of eating significant amounts of food in a short period of time than most people would eat under similar circumstances, with episodes of feelings of a lack of control.
-Marked distress, with feelings of guilt, embarrassment, or disgust.
-Occurs on average once per week over three months.
-May binge alone to hide behaviors.
-Key features are secretive eating, excessive intake of food and rapid, eating, often with a feeling of lack of control.
